When the Mountain Goats came to Columbus in april, I gave Peter Peter Hughes (the band’s very steezy bass-player) one of my handmade bow ties. A few weeks ago, he sent me a very kind email thanking me for the gift. And now I’ve spotted some pictures of him wearing the tie at tMG shows! I couldn’t be more thrilled.

Huge thanks to my pal Valerie for finding the photos!!

This is one of the best things I’ve seen in a while. Fun to imagine these goats wandering around in the Darnielles’ yard.

The Mountain Goats live at the Wexner Center, 2011-04-11

I taped this show, and I just finally got it edited and uploaded! The Wex people were very very nice and helpful and the soundboard recording sounds really great. Go listen to it!

I almost forgot about this video. almost.

Tiny desk rules

So so so good.

This is, I think, my favorite live recording of “Old College Try”, an excellent Mountain Goats song from their excellent album Tallahassee. Listen to the bass. Especially at the very end. It’s superb.

  1. Craig Finn is adorable.
  2. This song has never sounded better or been more rocking.
  3. I just realized that nyctaper made a recording of this whole show; ahhhh.

If We Never Get There At All

A bunch of my friends at the Mountain Goats forums made a compilation album of covers of tMG songs. I designed the cover and made the mini-site. They did a fantastic job and I’m really proud of the end product. Check it out!
